im 18 yrs old and i’ve been suffering from panic attacks .how can i control it? help?

go to a psyologist and have then do breathing relaxation techniques with you, they will cure them for sure, i had panic attacks, and didn't want meds, and never thought i would be cured, but breathing techniques actually worked!

When you have panic attacks you should relax and think good thoughts, breathe in and breathe out. Take deep breathes and just think happy. You can't get rid of it unless you have enough confidence. You need to join programs and do things that you'd probably never do and it'll build you confidence and get rid of panic attacks.

I had to go see a therapist because of that…Everyday was a struggle…..But I meditated, and got some pills and care, and now I,m fine….Maybe you should try meditaing, or see someone about it.

i understand how hard it is to get rid of. i as well had them. you just need to relax and maybe meditation would help. when you get a panic attack, try getting a cold rag and put it on your head and try to calm yourself down. :]

Please add me, I can help. I'm only 12 but I suffer major anxiety. I can't control it but I know how to make it happen less often. My usually dark brown eyes turn green during a attack! It's odd. Deep breathing and rubbing my eyes while watching the colors that appear help me calm down. (yes, try rubbing your eyes with a slight pressure and you will see cool patterns) Do you have depression? that might be the cause, I have depression. I know that meditation makes you calm down.

First of all, try to find the motive for your panic attacks. When you realize what's making you panic, you must think differently.You must think about why it's making you panic and you should probably reassure yourself and tell yourself things to make you calm down.When you feel the onset of a panic attack, I want you to start taking deep breaths,close your eyes if it helps, and tell yourself there's no need to panic.

Okay the first thing is knowing that you are having a panic attack. You seem to be able to identify them, the same hot face thing happens to me. I leave the room. If I can't leave then I close my eyes and remind myself that I am having a stupid panic attack and it will be over in a min. Relax with deep breaths. Bummer your mom's not more supportive, but you should see your DR. for meds. I take prozac and I like it. Some also use Lexapro everyone is different and you may need to try several till you find the right one. My panic was the worse in college, there is a lot of commotion all around, so please seek help now. I rarely have a full blown attack now, maybe 3 a year. It's beeen 3 years since I was diaganosed.

Panic disorder is REAL. I believe it's a seizure disorder, located in the frontal lobe, like epilepsy. It needs to be treated by a medical doctor – a psychiatrist who can prescribe medication. There is no way to properly treat it with yoga, meditation, marijuana, or "socializing". That's like trying to treat a bullet wound with a band-aid.
Your mother is wrong. You can't "control yourself" anymore than you could "think" your way out of diabetes or cancer or myopia. Please see a doctor, and soon!

I dealt with the same thing for Years at your age. It started when I was 16, I'm 19 now and I haven't had a panic attack in MONTHS, it's wonderful now.
When I was dealing with panic attacks it was terrible. I didn't want to go out with people, I just wanted to be at home because if a Panic Attack happened I could deal with it there. Like one person said, meditation can help, That was the first thing my therapist taught me. Overall it wasn't strong enough for most of my attacks. They were so overwhelming I couldn't keep my mind from freaking out.
A combination of medication & therapy is the best way to go for this. You may not want to be put on medication because your worried about side effects of it changing you, but as long as your on a proper dose and are keeping in contact with your doctor, they will be very beneficial. You don't have to be on them for the rest of your life either. I haven't taken them in a while and I feel like I no longer need them, but they truly saved my life when I was going through numerous attacks everyday.
My parents were the same way at first, it wasn't until a doctor drilled it into them that it's a lot more than self-control that they understood anxiety. Good luck.

They are very hard to control. Mine started when I was about 33 years old. Low dose medicine and finding someone you can talk to freely about anything that pops into your head helps. It's usually wrong thinking that causes it. Try to discover exactly what is scaring you. Which many times can be the fear of a panic attack- a vicious cycle. Write everything down; you can always destroy it later. Get those wrong thoughts out of your head somehow.
Sometimes I'll be fine for months then something happens and I crash. It might take me a few days to figure out the cause, or I may never figure it out. Eating sweets seems to make it worse. I limit my self to one cookie about every other day. Keep searching. Find a way to vent freely and privately. Tell your doctor. If he doesn't take you seriously find another doctor. I'm over 50 years old now. Exercise.

my ex wife had them they made our life unlivable,but she did get treated for them and was able to be semi normal again.
if you can figure out the triggers to the attacks (by using a journal to track the when and where) then if you are of a strong enough mind you can focus on something else to relieve the attack before it starts.
one trigger seems to be stressful situations like being in front of people.If i'm right then you can shortcircut the attack by putting yourself in (mentally after you are where your supposed to be) front of the cross and focus's on singing to that man there,i'll bet you will not have time to have an attack because your focus will be so much higher than your self and there is no room for the attack to ocure

I got panic attacks too! I have a seizure disorder and i thought everytime i would go out i would have a seizure so i just stopped going out….This went on for a month or two when my boyfriend (now husband) forced me to go out! He would put me in the car and he would make me take deep breaths and id hold his hand and we would go into a store, or go to a party and after i forced myself after i told myself it was just a panic it turned out fine! I was better in no time! Try that!
