How can I stop this panic attack?!?!?
I’m 14 and anxiety runs in my family. Recently, I’ve been having panic attacks for no reason and at first, I thought I survived a heart attack. I get a rapid heart rate (pulse-120), and my heart beat makes me feel uncomfortable because it almost beats out my chest. I break out in a sweat and I don’t feel right. My chest hurts too and sometimes the pain radiates down one arm and that’s why at first I thought I was having a heart attack.
How can I stop having so many panic attacks out of the blue?
I would talk to a doctor first of all (calmly but assertively), but if you have done this then it is important to realize that through practice and time, one can control these symptoms, often anxiety is a triggered response of a psychological or psychosomatic (mind to body) origin. You mention it runs in your family, and perhaps that notion alone has transferred into your mind and body as a mechanism of expectation. Mastering one’s self can be done through yoga, martial art, meditation; a number of ways. A person can control one’s own blood pressure and heart rate with their mind (some doctors disagree but i have proved it) and the shortness of breath can be counteracted by daily breathing exercises. The pain in your arm could very well be do to lack of oxygen or muscle spasms in the upper chest and shoulders, or from the hyped up state of the sympathetic nervous system. I would recommend massage therapy as a way of inducing great relaxation and insight into how you can come back to that state in times of anxiety. Again breath is important. Also from an herbological perspective, you could use dandelion root and leaf tea or tincture, perhaps lobelia tincture, hawthorn berry and flower, valerian root is a really good one, especially if used with dandelion. These herbs are safe to use, and there are many options, and if this method interests you i suggest you do your research on the valuable and useful plants, wikipedia is a good source, but remember to cross-reference the information, and when you have educated yourself, talk then to your doctor about any possible contraindications with these herbs and any medicines you are taking. I am generally an advocate and practitioner of knowing about my own health and how to positively influence my mind and body, and stepping away from pharmaceutical medicines into the place of plant medicine where life treats life- then to rely purely on my own mastery of self to heal.You could also try a panic attack treatment off the internet, there are loads out there.
