A Married Couple Becomes Apprehensive About Their Abusive and Excessive Drinking and Wonders If They Exhibit Any Alcohol Dependency Signs or Mental Health Issues
Jerry and Sarah have been married for seven years. They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have children and so they by design developed an extremely exciting social life.
The principal problem, it needs to be highlighted, is that virtually everything they do to have fun somehow includes drinking. For example, all of the sporting events, dinner engagements, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and happy hours they frequent are related to drinking.
Jerry and Sarah Begin to Become Aware of Some Unmistakable Alcohol Related Problems That Come From Their Excessive Drinking
If they were responsible drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a big problem. Since they drink in an excessive manner, nonetheless, they are beginning to take note of some definite alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.
For instance, just four weeks ago Jerry was apprehended by the police for a third DWI and has been taking time off from work because of alcohol-related health problems. What is more, Jerry’s last three performance appraisals at work have been less than adequate and he has begun to forget what he says or does while he drinks. Finally, Jerry has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to get anxious about his drinking situation.
Similarly, Sarah has been feeling down in the dumps with life and to deal with these feelings, she has been drinking more habitually than any time in the past four years. What is more, Sarah has been getting a lot of headaches and having terrible hangovers after drinking. Finally, Sarah has been feeling notably less energetic when she gets up in the morning, she has been getting to work late every Monday, and she has been getting some less than constructive criticism from her coworkers, relatives, friends, and family members about her heavy drinking.
Watching the TV and Inadvertently Discovering An Out-of-the-Ordinary Program About the Signs of Alcoholism
One Sunday evening while watching the television, Sarah and Jerry went through the channels and discovered a remarkable documentary about the signs of alcoholism.
This television program was a real source of discovery to Sarah and Jerry because more than a few of the alcoholism signs that were emphasized appeared as if they were unwaveringly related to more than a few of the alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been experiencing.
A Truthful Chat About Drinking Behavior Reveals Alcohol Related Financial, Employment, Legal, Health, and Relationship Problems
After watching the television documentary, Sarah and Jerry decided to have a candid discussion about their drinking condition. They both agreed that most, if not all, of their social pursuits were associated with drinking, that they were drinking irresponsibly, and that as a married couple, they were beginning to see alcohol related health, financial, employment, legal, and relationship problems for the first time since they were married.
With thoughts of the TV special still fresh in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been displaying could be a signal that they are alcoholic or perhaps becoming alcohol dependent. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s question and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local drug and alcohol abuse rehab center to find out more about the gravity of their drinking situation.
Addressing Your Drinking Problems May Decrease Your Sense of Dread and Give You A Sense of Calm
Paradoxically, even though their drinking behavior hadn’t yet changed, it was clear to see that Sarah and Jerry were at the very least facing their drinking problems, they were excited about finding out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in discovering how they could substantially lessen or do away with the alcohol-related issues that had started to go from bad to worse.
When Sarah and Jerry went to bed that evening, they decided that the next morning, Jerry would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol treatment clinic located just East of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to prevail over the drinking difficulties that had developed in their lives, they truly had the most energizing night’s sleep they could remember in the last eight months.
Just before he fell asleep, Jerry turned to Sarah and remarked how effortless it is to reduce one’s sense of dread and truly experience some quietude by tackling one’s problems straight on and choosing to do something positive about them.
