The best treatment for Tension Headaches is chiropractic care, which is never even mentioned in any of these blog postings, so I thought I would convey the information. Stress causes abnormal muscle tension (spasm) in the sub-occipital muscles (muscles under the base of the skull) which can shift the vertebrae (bones) in the neck out of alignment. A chiropractor will evaluate a patient with headaches and rule out any more serious causes (brain tumors, etc.) then they will perform a chiropractic adjustment to restore the normal spinal alignment. This approach is very safe and effective and most people end up wishing they would have tried it “years ago” rather than abusing over the counter pain medication.
