Panic attacks increase heart rate and blood pressure, but won’t kill you unless you have severe cardiovascular disease (even then the statistics on it are too low to be on the radar medically).
Such attacks do cause fatigue. They call in all the body’s resources of energy, so it’s logical you’d be tired.
Your fear of triggering another attack is, in itself, a reason to have one. You have a vicious circle between the fear and the panic. Both cause the body to release stress hormones and adrenaline.
It’s not up to the counselor to find the cause. It’s up to you, with his or her guidance. It is essential that you are 100% honest with him or her; otherwise, all the therapy in the world will get you nowhere.
We have wonderful medications for anxiety today. You may be able to get a handle on the problem if you use medication from time to time. Together with therapy, you’ll be feeling a whole lot better. You really don’t need to suffer.
