Panic Attack Cures & Treatments – Breathing Exercises
If you are a panic attack sufferer, you know that seeking treatment is your number one priority. The medical world has come up with a multitude of panic attack treatment techniques. A large number of these treatment techniques have to do with breathing patterns. This article aims to describe the most popular of these breathing techniques that have lessened the intensity of panic attacks for several sufferers.
Breathe into a brown paper bag. If you have lavender essence oil, put in one or two drops for added calming. Breathe out to a count of 4 and your stomach should collapse. Breathing in a conscious and gentle way, using your diaphragm, helps you get control over many of these sensations. Learning breath control is the first step in controlling panic.
Breathing is the only involuntary function that can be easily and voluntarily controlled. During times of panic, relaxed, controlled breathing will give us immediate access to the nervous system. Breathe in slowly, count to 3 and breathe out slowly. Do this until you start to recover your calm. Breath by breath, our body controls the acid in our blood. The body, when things are normal, keeps the pH close to 7.40.
Breathe normally focusing on extending the out breath. If you run from the situation your immediate anxiety will of course decrease but this may lead to an increase in future anxiety.
I hope this article has been useful in helping the reader understand the different breathing techniques that are used to treat panic attacks. Remember, though, that breathing techniques are only one aspect of panic attack treatment. You must utilize a more comprehensive program to be completely treated for panic attacks.
