what are panic attacks Archives

While you may not believe it, using natural remedies for panic attacks can be just as effective as a prescription medication. These natural remedies are often better for you as well, with fewer or no side effects. Contrast this with prescription anxiety medications, which can cause all sorts of unpleasant side effects; some of the side effects commonly experienced are: heart palpitations, racing heart, dry mouth, sexual problems, constipation, and drowsiness. These are just the more common side effects. Also, in some individuals, these prescriptions can have the opposite effect they are supposed to, increasing anxiety instead of decreasing it.

using natural remedies can avoid these unpleasant side effects. It is entirely possible to feel calmer and have fewer panic attacks using these natural remedies. Unlike prescription medications, however, natural remedies are usually not approved by the FDA for the treatment of any condition. Just be aware of your own reactions to a natural remedy and stop using it if you experience any side effects that bother you.

A few of the natural remedies available for panic attacks are lemon balm, lavender, and passiflora. These herbs are said to be highly effective in the treatment of panic attacks and for general stress and anxiety relief. Most often these are available in products with other ingredients that enhance their relaxing effect. There is a particular brand of herbal mixture called Pure Calm. This product contains all three of the above ingredients, and is very effective at relieving stress and anxiety, reducing the number of panic attacks you experience.

Another name brand herbal remedy is called Panicyl. This product contains ginseng, ashwaganda, Rhodiala Rosea, and a mixture of various amino acids that work together to relax and enhance your mood by balancing neurotransmitter levels in your brain. This acts to reduce your anxiety and help with depression, which reduces the frequency and severity of your panic attacks.

Another herbal remedy that is well known is St. John’s Wort. This herb is usually taken in capsule form to provide many of the same benefits as Panicyl, and has been proven to significantly reduce the frequency of panic attacks if taken regularly.

Some of these products should not be taken with certain prescription medications, as they may produce an adverse reaction or interfere with the effectiveness of the medication.. Always talk with your doctor before starting on any homeopathic treatment plans.

When taken regularly, natural remedies for panic attacks have been shown to be as effective in some cases as prescription medications, but with a far lower occurrence of side effects. They are all available over-the-counter, and are usually reasonably priced. You can start taking them immediately. But if you are on other medication, always talk to your doctor before taking any of these natural remedies for panic attacks.

I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks whenever I have to give presentations or public speaking. I have been receiving information about the one move technique but everything I look at says you have to purchase. I really can’t afford to purchase anything, but I need to get over my anxiety because it is taking over.

Yes, the One Move technique is part of the Panic Away program. If you can’t afford it go to the library and take a look at a few self-help books for anxiety. You may find that there are other programs like Panic Away in a book format and you can check the book out for free. Books can be a really good resource. But, to overcome this you will have to work at it. No book or program will work without effort.

Just remember that your condition is curable and you don’t have to live with anxiety for good.

What is the best treatment for panic attacks?

I’ve suffered from panic attacks since I was very little, and my first major panic attack was when I was in the middle of a very busy restaurant. Another one was on a crowded train on my way to work and my heart-rate jumped like crazy.

If anyone out there experience those similar reactions.. What are the best treatments for ending these panic attacks? THANKS!

Having my own experience, speaking with others, and reading literature, I learned that "panic" is a defense mechanism that protects us from over-whelming anxiety. The problem therefore, is not the "panic", it’s the underlying anxiety.

I would suggest that you look into the "release-valve treatment," as it helped me a great deal with my anxiety. Also, do your reading and studying to give you a better understanding of the main causes and treatments of panic attacks.

These differ from person to person. Everybody has encountered some sort of nervousness or anxiety at some point of time or place. In brief, when anxiety reaches its extreme level we call it a panic attack. Some of the common signs and symptoms of panic attacks are restlessness, lightheadedness, immense sweating, dizziness, nervousness and shakiness etc.

Panic attacks are unexpected fear, a distinct type of extreme anxiety that gives physiological arousal, discomfort and sometimes stomach pains – all are related to cognitive and bodily symptoms. However, panic attacks in most cases only last for few minutes but can in severe cases last several hours. Panic attacks can affect both the body and the mind and can provoke immense fear and terror. Some sufferers do not even realise they are suffering from anxiety until it is too late. So here are 10 signs & symptoms of panic attacks that are most common in today’s society:

1. Heart Palpitations – During panic attacks an unnatural consciousness of the heart beating occurs, it may be too slow or irregular and in many cases too fast.

2. Over Breathing Or Hyperventilation – It is a state of breathing deeper or/and faster than normal. This symptom can be one of the most terrifying and can lead onto the next symptom quickly.

3. Fear Of Losing Control Or Going Crazy – More often than not panic attacks are associated with the sense of terror and lead to the sufferer feeling like they are losing control or going crazy.

4. Shakiness & Dizziness – This is another common sign & symptom of a panic attack. This symptom can make you feel like you have developed low blood sugar or that you have just run a long distance.

5. Hot flashes – Hot flashes will force the sufferer to feel extreme heat with an increased heartbeat and sweating. This symptom can last for a short time such as two minutes but has been known to drag on past thirty minutes in severe cases.

6. Fainting – Fainting can happen in severe cases of panic attacks and can be very common. This is due to an inadequate flow of oxygen in the brain.

7. Frequent Toilet Use – Panic attacks as mentioned effect people in different ways, and an extreme urge to need the toilet frequently can be a certain sign of anxiousness that eventually leads to a panic attack. A symptom that props up regularly in anxiety and panic attack sufferers.

8. Insomnia & Lack Of Concentration – Anxiety can lead to a lack of concentration and sleepless nights. This Anxiety and panic attack symptom can be an early sign that you may be suffering from the condition.

To overcome panic attacks one should keep in mind that most of the sign and symptoms of panic attacks occur due to one’s imagination. In other words, panicky is a state of mind instead of strict disorder. There are ways to overcome and treat anxiety and panic, and if you do indeed suffer from any of the above symptoms it may be time for you to look for a helping hand.

Millions of people worldwide suffer from panic attacks. About half of them experience nocturnal panic attack. While panic attacks during the day are far more common, nocturnal attacks can be terrifying may have even more severe consequences.

Panic attacks occur when a person is not able to control their normal response to stress. Often a stressful life changing event can trigger the onset of a panic disorder. Those who suffer from panic attacks sometimes suffer from low self esteem, self doubt and may be obsessed with failure. Often, they are obsessed with the mere possibility of failure. These constant fears can lead to panic attacks. But many times, there is no obvious cause for their panic attacks.

For many people suffering from panic attack, nightfall makes things much worse. One of the reasons why this can happen is because the person may suffer from sleep apnea, a disorder that causes the heart rate to increase and increases blood flow. This in turn, may lead to anxiety which can trigger a panic attack.

One way to reduce nocturnal panic attacks may be to change your diet. You should be particularly careful with your final meal of the day. A healthy, sensible diet will help you relax and sleep, reducing the risk of having a panic attack. People who suffer from panic disorder should eliminate all forms of caffeine, alcohol and sugar from their diet.

Nocturnal panic attacks can severely affect a person’s quality of life. However they can be successfully treated. All it takes is determination and the will to take action.
